Sound of Mars through DPA mic
Sound on Sound magazine recently published an article about editor-in-chief Sam Inglis’ interview with René Mørch from DPA Microphones about their contribution to the Mars mission. DPA was asked to supply microphones for this mission, including recording the EDL stage (Entry, Descent and Landing) of the seven-month space journey to Mars, and also to record all the sounds that the NASA Perseverance Rover captures on board the vehicle as it travels across Mars. The mission of the Perseverance is: ‘NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance rover will look for signs of past microbial life, cache rock and soil samples, and prepare for future human exploration’.
